EVENT 5: TUG OF WAR
RULE SET: Tug of War is one of the most ancient games known to man and there is evidence that it was played across the ancient world including ancient Greece, Egypt and China. It remains today a popular sport that pits the strengths of two teams against each other and is practiced in some form in almost every country in the world. Teams are pitted against each other usually in a best of three match, there is a form of scoring, in that the winner of the match must win two out the three pulls to win the match. A team will be DQ'd from the entire Turf Wars event if they intentionally let go and cause the other team to fall, injuring the other team. No cleats or gloves will be allowed at the event. No anchoring, looping around the end of the rope will be allowed. There is a particular technique that needs to be applied while playing this game, if not then there will be a foul which can call in for disqualifications. For e.g. lowering your elbow below the knee level while pulling the rope is considered to be a foul and is called ‘locking’. |
